[Editorial Note: I decided to rename this weekly news post going forward given that “TSVR” often denotes the formal “Town of Star Valley Ranch” and not all things happening on the Ranch occur under the onus of the Town. With that—here we go!]
Despite minimal items on the calendar, it turned out to be quite a newsy week. Here’s a summary of happenings:
Tuesday, September 19th at 6pm the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) Board of Directors (BoD) held at workshop at Cedar Creek Center. The BoD workshops are prep sessions for each monthly BoD meeting. So, I’ll cover discussion items further in the Thursday entry for this week.
Wednesday, September 20th, the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) sent out an email to provide additional information to residents on a form letter that many of us received in the mail over the previous weekend. The form letter alarmed many residents and was, unfortunately, filled with language such as “noncompliance”, “failure to perform activities”, and “coliform bacteria contamination”. In fact, the form letter was a generic template, and the “noncompliance” was actually an administrative requirement from the EPA triggered by the Town missing a reporting deadline about next steps on replacement of the Green Canyon tank liner. Bottom line—there is no problem with our Ranch water.
You can read the entirety of the “Clarification on Water Notice" email here. And, in the event you still have concerns please reach out and I’ll do my utmost to provide further information. Thanks!
Thursday, September 21st at 7pm the SVRA BoD Meeting for September was conducted at Cedar Creek Center. Quite a bit of newsworthy items to pass along. Here are some highlights:
The SVRA BoD will not send out a survey to members as had previously been discussed. The last survey sent only by SVRA only garnered about 130 responses. Therefore, the BoD felt any upcoming survey should be more focused rather than general in nature.
The SVRA will update its Residential Fence Policy for a maximum height of 6-feet to align with the TSVR Fence Ordinance §154.066. This was a motion and was unanimously approved by the BoD during the meeting.
The SVRA will update its Delinquent Assessments Policy to better align with when assessment payments are due. I.e., with assessments due on February 28th (or 29th in a leap year), an assessment will now be considered 1-year delinquent March 1st of the following assessment year. This was a motion and was unanimously approved by the BoD during the meeting.
Two other SVRA policies were also approved for update during the meeting, the Contra-Asset Account Policy (to update the schedule for collection of delinquent accounts) and the Membership Card Issuance Policy (the latter to better define who qualifies as a “lineal family” member.
Also on Thursday, September 21st at about 8:40pm (based on the time/date stamp on the video) we had another mountain lion sighting shared below courtesy of a resident’s Ring camera. This is the second big kitty sighting on the north-end of the Ranch during the past week! With all the mule deer moving about this time of year not really a surprise. Stay frosty folks!

Here are a few additional Ranch items of interest from the past week:
The water line work by Leisure Valley, Inc. (that we reported on during the week of September 3rd) appears to be concluded as the big hole and excavator are no longer present on Green Canyon Drive.
Some unpaved roads around Town are looking pretty rough, particularly on the north-end of the Ranch. I’ll work on getting an update from TSVR Public Works with regard to road-grading/maintenance plans in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are a few photos.
Clockwise from top left: Aspen Way (south of Mahogany); Dogwood (north end) at Spruce; south end of Spruce Drive at Dogwood; and, Snow Forest Drive. A sign was posted this past week in the TSVR Mail Center on Vista Drive advising residents of changes to mail forwarding policies. See below.
Also at the Mail Center, it appears that additional parcel boxes will be installed in the coming weeks/months based on the pile of boxes that are now waiting patiently inside the south-side of the building.
Calendar items are scarce for next week but here are a couple:
Wednesday, September 27th at 5pm the TSVR Planning and Zoning Board will meet at Town Hall.
Friday, September 29th, bids are due in response to the TSVR Snow Removal Request for Proposal.
