Here’s your Ranch news roundup for the week of April 14th, 2024:
Tuesday, April 16th at 6pm, the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) Board of Directors (BoD) held a workshop at Cedar Creek Center. This was a fairly short meeting with the directors essentially lining up the pins they planned to knock down at their Thursday’s meeting. You can find the workshop agenda here.
On Wednesday, April 17th the Bridger Teton National Forest (BTNF) published an invitation for public comment as it prepares to update its forest plan. As many of you know, our local trails are all part of the BTNF. To learn more about the forest plan process, submit your public comments, and be a part of the forest’s future please consider checking out this link. Thank you!
Thursday, April 18th, at 7pm the SVRA held their monthly BoD meeting at Cedar Creek Center. Here’s a link to the agenda followed by some notes of interest:
The Grill has applied for a liquor license from the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR). The lessee intends to sell packaged goods as part of The Grill’s transformation into The Pizza Shack at the Ranch.
You can follow progress on the opening of The Pizza Shack on their Facebook page.
The BoD approved a bid from Avail Construction to replace Green Canyon irrigation piping and PRV vaults. Next steps are to obtain Forest Service approval and a dig permit from TSVR.
There are three (3) SVRA BoD seats up for election this year. If you are interested in running candidate packets must be submitted to the SVRA Office no later than Tuesday, April 23th at 4:00pm. Candidate packets are available on the SVRA website at this link. Please contact the SVRA Office by phone at (307) 883-2669 or be email at office@svrawy.com if you have questions.
SVRA plans to offer SMS text messaging as a new form of member communication; additional details will be forthcoming this spring.
Construction to extend the Cedar Creek Center deck and create a path to the driving range is scheduled to commence next week.
One last sad note—it seems long-time golf groundskeeper and cross-country trail groomer extraordinaire, Kurt Richmond, is leaving his position at SVRA to become the Greens Superintendent at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan.
Read more about Kurt’s departure in today’s SVRA email at this link.
Here are a couple of other news items for the week:
The TSVR is planning to conduct a Town Clean-Up Day from May 3rd through May 5th. Stay tuned for additional details on how you can participate and help keep the Ranch a beautiful place to live!
Yesterday the TSVR Trail Crew conducted a survey of Fox Run Park and reported trails are still about 70% covered by up to 15 inches of snow in some places. The Trail Crew forecasts dry trail conditions within a week based on the sunny weather outlook ahead.
Here are calendar dates for next week:
Wednesday, April 24th at 1pm, the TSVR Water Utility Board will meet at Town Hall.
Also on Wednesday, at 5pm the TSVR Planning & Zoning Board will meet at Town Hall.
Final thoughts—such a warm and wonderful weekend! I hope most of you got a chance to get outside and enjoy the sunshine! The weather was so nice I managed to start a little yard work without having to wear a jacket. Saw this little guy out and about near my garden; apparently he is putting away his winter coat too! Have a great week everyone!
