It’s the first week of March! Here’s your news roundup for the week that began on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025:
Tuesday, March 4th at 6pm the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Roads Advisory Board was scheduled to meet at Town Hall; alas, the meeting was not held.
Wednesday, March 5th at 2pm the TSVR Travel and Tourism (T&T) Board met at Town Hall. Here’s a link to the agenda along with a few notes:
Friends of the Bridger-Teton (FBT) presented their SVR Lodging Tax Grant Application to the board. After discussion, the application was tabled pending further updates requested by the board members. The T&T Board will meet again later this month specifically to make a decision on the FBT application.
The board is seeking a manager or docent to coordinate activities for the Ranch Rendezvous Market this summer. If you’re interested, drop me an email and I’ll pass your interest along to the board—thanks!
The board discussed a birthday party to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the town’s founding. Formation of a committee to plan the event was recommended. Here’s another opportunity folks—are you interested in being part of this committee? If so, reach out to me by email! Thanks for considering!
Other news and notes for the week:
Work to repair the water line at the Middle Branch Bridge replacement project was completed on Monday.
The recent melty, snowy, and icy road conditions are wreaking havoc on town plowing operations. An update was posted to the town website on Tuesday explaining the difficulties—read it here in the event you missed it.
On Thursday, the town posted a water update on the town website to notify residents about Environmental Protection Agency required sample retesting.
Note there is no issue with the town’s water and this notification was intended as a way to maintain open lines of communication with the public.
From the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA), on Friday we were notified the time has come to close the ice rink for the season. Spring is on the way folks!
And, because it’s pretty, here’s a lovely photo of Cedar Creek taken from the Hardman Road crossing. Thanks Deb for sending this our way!
Here are calendar items for next week—it’s a busy one y’all:
Tuesday, March 11th has the following schedule of events:
Coffee with the Mayor, 9am at Town Hall [Note, there will be donuts!]
Town Council Work Session, 10am at Town Hall
TSVR Municipal Court, 2pm, upstairs at Town Hall
Town Council Meeting, 7pm at Town Hall
Wednesday, March 12th at 5pm the TSVR Planning Commission will meet at Town Hall.
Thursday, March 13th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm Wyoming’s lone Congressional Representative, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman, will conduct a Town Hall meeting at the Afton Civic Center.
Friday, March 14th at 7pm the SVRA Fresh Tracks winter recreation club will meet at Cedar Creek Center.
Final thoughts—Did you remember to “spring forward” last night (or in reality at 2am this morning)? That’s right, we’ve just hit the start of Daylight Saving Time (DST) for 2025. You know, that silly shifting of the clock’s time forward an hour with the aim of allowing us all to use natural daylight better. Hmm, I’m less than convinced. All I know is that I woke up this morning feeling unrested, but somehow late to getting on with the day! My griping aside, there are some interesting historical notes about DST on the Farmer’s Almanac page linked in the second sentence of this missive. I hadn’t really thought about how DST impacts chickens or farmers, but apparently it does! Who knew? And, with that, I’ll leave you with the below photo of a recent visitor seen on the north-end of the Ranch along with my best wishes for your upcoming week!
