It was a quiet week at the Ranch with the big event being the arrival of April! With that, here’s a brief roundup for the week that began on March 30th, 2025:
On Wednesday April 2nd and Thursday April 3rd crews from Avail Valley Construction were at work trying to repair Green Canyon Drive. For those of you who live on Green Canyon I know you’ve been dealing with a veritable quagmire these past couple of weeks since spring melt began. The road surface has gotten so bad that local sanitation trucks have refused to traverse it. Work on a water line (not belonging to the town) that occurred last fall led to the worsening road surface conditions this spring. My understanding is that new road base was not put down and appropriate road surface compaction was also not performed before the project buttoned up for the winter. Hopefully the work done these past couple of days has improved the roadway and made it more passable.
Other news and notes for the week:
The Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) posted two updates on its News & Notices webpage this week. The first provided information on the TSVR YouTube page and the second was the Town Administrator’s weekly update.
Also this week, a new crane was brought in which should be the last item needed before work can resume to install the final wing-wall of the Middle Branch Bridge. Fingers-crossed!
Lastly, I am happy to report for all your golfers out there, the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) maintenance crews spread black sand on the greens this week and also opened the cart paths in preparation for the upcoming season.
Here are calendar items for what will be a busier upcoming week:
Tuesday, April 8th has the following schedule of events:
Coffee with the Mayor, 9am at Town Hall [Note, there will be cookies!]
Town Council Work Session, 10am at Town Hall
TSVR Municipal Court, 2pm, upstairs at Town Hall
Town Council Meeting, 7pm at Town Hall
Wednesday, April 9th at 5pm the TSVR Planning Commission will meet at Town Hall.
Final thoughts—this morning I noticed while out walking that the first Tree Swallows of the season had arrived! The appearance of these elegant avian acrobats is another sure sign of spring. In addition to the Tree Swallows, I’m sure many of you have noticed plenty of American Robins noisily flitting about. American Robins become much more vocal with the advent of spring and they are often the first birds to sing in the morning, sometimes even before the sun comes up! These lovely birds along with the beautiful sunshine we’ve enjoyed these past days are a welcome shift away from the last vestiges of winter. I hope all of you are reveling in the growing warmth and also appreciating the burgeoning birdsongs. That’s all for today, have a great week folks!
