Hurray for May! Here’s your SVR news roundup for the week of May 4th, 2025:
First off, the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Water Utility Board meeting planned for Thursday, May 8th at 4:30pm, was rescheduled to May 20th at 4:30pm.
Thursday was also the first day of the annual TSVR Spring Roadside Clean-Up event which continued through today, May 11th. With this being the second consecutive year for the Clean-up event, I think participation may have been up slightly from 2024. I do want to personally thank all the folks who did get out there and fill up yellow trash bags this weekend! I really appreciate all of you who put in the time to keep Star Valley Ranch a beautiful place to live! Let’s work to make this annual event an even bigger success in 2026! In the meantime, here are some photos from this year’s effort.

Other news and notes for the week:
On Monday, May 5th, the Hardman Bridge reopened for vehicle and pedestrian traffic! Hurray!
You may have noticed that some of the fire hydrants around town are getting a nice cheery new coat of paint! Doesn’t that look spiffy!
And, since we’ve been talking about the arrival of Broad-tailed hummingbirds for the past couple of weeks, here’s a video below shared by a resident of what I think is probably a female Broad-tailed hummingbird visiting her feeder. Don’t you just love the close up! Thanks Justine for sharing this with all of us!
On Friday, the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) announced the Aspen Hills Golf Course will open on Monday, May 12th. It is now officially the season for golf carts and greens!
Here are calendar items for what will be a busier upcoming week:
Tuesday, May 13th has the following schedule of events:
Coffee with the Mayor, 9am at Town Hall [Note, there will be cookies!]
Town Council Work Session, 10am at Town Hall
TSVR Municipal Court, 2pm, upstairs at Town Hall
Town Council Meeting, 7pm at Town Hall
Wednesday, May 14th at 5pm the TSVR Planning Commission will meet at Town Hall.
Thursday, May 15th at 2pm the TSVR Natural Resources Board will meet at Town Hall.
Also on Thursday, May 15th at 7pm the SVRA Board of Directors will conduct their monthly meeting at Cedar Creek Center.
Final thoughts—I had a pretty amazing hummingbird sighting myself this week. Just yesterday this little guy, a male Rufous Hummingbird, appeared at my back-deck feeder! I managed to snap the below photo before he zipped away. This is the earliest I’ve ever seen one of these beauties as they usually do not appear until late June or early July. I guess this fella was just really anxious to get back to the Cowboy State! Let me know if you’ve already seen a Rufous as in my experience it’s a bit out of the ordinary for this time of year. I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend and for all of the Moms out there—Happy Mother’s Day! Have a great week all!
