And, here we are in December! Here’s your roundup for the week of December 1st, 2024:
On Monday December 2nd and throughout the week work was underway in earnest on replacement of the Middle Branch Bridge. Construction crews removed the old bridge structure and temporarily diverted the flow of Cedar Creek. Next steps, per my understanding, include pouring concrete in preparation for setting the new bridge’s pre-fabricated culvert pieces. Weather permitting and as long the new bridge pieces arrive on time, work should be completed on replacement of the Middle Branch Bridge before Christmas Day. Below are some photos of the past week’s work courtesy of the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Administrator. Thanks Trevor!

Friday, December 6th, starting around 4pm the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) hosted Santa on the Ranch at Cedar Creek Center followed by ice skating with Santa at Cedar Creek Park. I’m sure the kids were thrilled and look how awesome that ice looks! Nice work SVRA.

As it was a relatively quiet week, I only have one additional news note to share:
A resident provided the below photographs of an American Goshawk that visited her backyard here at the Ranch last Sunday. While the American Goshawk is widespread it’s also uncommon and the U.S. Forest Service includes the goshawk on its “Sensitive Species” list for many regions. Thus, this was a very rare sighting in general, let alone in town! Very cool! [And, just for fun I’ve also included an audio file of a very agitated American Goshawk below the photos for your enjoyment.]

After the recent slow pace, it’s back to business with lots of calendar items next week:
Tuesday, December 10th has the following schedule of events:
Coffee with the Mayor, 9am at Town Hall
Town Council Work Session, 10am at Town Hall.
TSVR Municipal Court, 2pm, upstairs at Town Hall
Town Council Meeting, 7pm at Town Hall.
Wednesday, December 11th at 2:30pm the TSVR Travel and Tourism Board will meet at Town Hall.
Also on Wednesday, December 11th at 5pm the TSVR Planning and Zoning Board will meet at Town Hall.
