The week before Christmas was a quiet one here on the Ranch. Nonetheless, here are some updates:
On Sunday, December 17th, the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Trail Crew was out once again on the Cedar Creek Trail keeping it open for snowshoeing. They posted some beautiful photos on their Facebook page and also spotted a moose about 2 miles back on the trail. Even with the scarcity of new snow, the Trail Crew still recommends using snowshoes especially the further back you go on Cedar Creek Trail as conditions are soft and you will posthole quite a bit without them. Thank you Trail Crew for all you do!
In last week’s SVR News Roundup, under upcoming calendar items, I reported a Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) Board of Directors (BoD) workshop and SVRA BoD monthly meeting would be held on Tuesday, December 19th and Thursday, December 21st respectively. Turns out I was mistaken in listing those two events as neither of them occurred. Thank you to the SVRA BoD Chairman for advising me on the latter. Additionally, the Chairman relayed no SVRA BoD workshops or board meetings will be held during January 2024 or February 2024.
On Saturday, December 23rd we finally received a bit more snow at Star Valley Ranch. I think there may have been about 3” of fluffy white stuff at my house. The TSVR dispatched public works trucks later in the day to sand intersections and some of the steeper roads in town as conditions were pretty slick in some spots.
A couple of additional news notes:
The TSVR Town Hall and offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th.
The SVRA office at Cedar Creek Center will be closed Thursday, December 21st through Tuesday, January 2nd.
As for next week’s Star Valley Ranch calendar items, I am not aware of any.
Finally, I thought I’d share a few words on a winter trip to Yellowstone National Park that my husband and I took during the first part of last week. We aren’t the only ones with a scarcity of snow! There was a decided lack of snow around the Old Faithful area (where we stayed) with the southern portions of the park actually having more snow depth. Even without the bountiful snow one expects when on a winter excursion to Yellowstone, we had a fantastic trip with beautiful scenery and some terrific wildlife sightings. If you’ve never seen Yellowstone National Park in winter, make sure you add it to your travel list! Here are a few photos…
