A really short recap of SVR news for the week of May 11th, 2025:
Tuesday, May 13th was a busy day at Town Hall starting off with a very well-attended Coffee with the Mayor at 9am. I think folks showed up for those Cowboy Cookies! A Town Council Work Session followed at 10am. Here’s a link to the agenda along with a couple of brief notes:
The Town Council is still working on updates to its ordinance to define the types of solar utility installations that will be allowed on residential properties.
A procurement schedule and available funding for new water meters was discussed as there is concern aging water meters in the Town may be under-reporting water usage.
The Council will be working on the third reading version of the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Budget during their upcoming work session on May 28th.
Also on Tuesday at 7pm the Town Council held their regular monthly meeting at Town Hall. Here’s a link to the meeting agenda and information packet. Of note from the meeting, former Mayor Kathy Buyers received a proclamation from the Town and also a plaque. The Natural Resources Board (NRB) also presented her with a plaque in thanks for her support during her 10 years as Town Mayor. You can also see a video recording of the entire meeting on the Town’s YouTube page by clicking on the video embed below. [The Town is currently working to install new audio/visual equipment at Town Hall and while the video is much better on this recording than on previous ones, the audio still needs work. Thanks for your patience as the Town continues to improve its meeting recording and streaming capabilities.]
For the remainder of the week I was out of town, so if you’d like to review the agendas for some of the other meetings that were held here are some links:
Planning Commission, Wednesday, May 14th at 5pm; here’s the agenda link.
Please note the date is incorrect on the agenda and link as the meeting was held on the 14th not the 13th.
NRB, met Thursday, May 15th at 2:30pm; this meeting agenda has not been posted.
Also on Thursday, the Roads Advisory Board met at 5:30pm; again no agenda available.
Lastly, and also on Thursday, the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) Board of Directors held their monthly meeting at 7pm; this link will take you to the agenda.
Other news and notes for the week:
Avail Valley Construction started the final portions of the Town’s Water Improvement Project 2023 (WIP 2023) on Hardman Road this week. I know some of you might not believe it, but there really is a finish line in sight for WIP 2023!
Also this week, Silverstar began working on their fiber installation project.
Unfortunately, Plats 4 and 5 had a water outage on Wednesday. The outage was necessary in order to fix a leak and I believe the taps were back on within a couple of hours.

Here are calendar items for next week:
Tuesday, May 20th has the TSVR Water Utility Board will meet at Town Hall.
On Monday, May 19th and Tuesday May 20th, the TSVR Public Works Department will be mowing in the roads rights-of-way, so please make sure you haven’t started putting any Firewise slash piles in those areas—thanks!
Final thoughts—As I mentioned earlier, I was out of town for the majority of the week following Tuesday’s Town Council festivities. And, while I missed a bunch of meetings, I did have an amazing time (despite the sometimes wet weather) showing some visiting friends around Yellowstone National Park (YNP). I really do love it there and this trip could not have been better. We saw eight bears on this visit, seven grizzlies and one black bear! That is a new record for us and our friends could not have been more thrilled. We just rolled back into the Ranch a couple of hours ago and are all pretty tuckered out, so I’ll make this closing note brief. I hope all of you had a great week and I’m quite sure we’ll all be looking forward to a much sunnier week ahead. See you then!
