We had a frosty start to our week followed by a couple of nice warm days at the end. Here’s your news roundup for the week of March 3rd, 2024:
Tuesday, March 5th at 5pm, the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Roads Advisory Board met at Town Hall. The meeting agenda is available at this link. The Board is looking into ways to improve the snow-plowing service levels provided by the Town during the winter season. Additional specialized snow-plowing equipment is one option being considered. The Board is actively seeking citizen engagement so please reach out to the Council Liaison, Councilman Merrill, with any Roads Advisory Board comments or ideas. Thank you!
On Wednesday, March 6th, the Star Valley Independent (SVI) published an interesting news article on a proposal that would require a 5-acre minimum lot size for new subdivisions in Lincoln County. Specifically, the proposal would amend the Lincoln County Land Use Regulations with the following language: “The minimum size lot in the rural zone is 5 acres, with the following exception. Lots under 5 acres shall only be accepted if lots are on a paved road and have central water systems.” The Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Commission will discuss this proposed amendment and other items at their upcoming meeting on March 13th. [See the Public Notice about the meeting at this SVI link (refer to page 16A) and also see calendar items below for more information.]
A couple of other news items for the week:
The TSVR Trail Crew continues to keep local trails open for snowshoeing and has posted some beautiful photos to their Facebook page again this week. Thanks Trail Crew and volunteers for all you do!
In case you were not aware, the Lincoln County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM) offers an emergency notification service for Lincoln County called CodeRED. This system enables you to sign up for emergency notifications via voice, text, or email. You can sign up for CodeRED at the Lincoln County Emergency Notifications page (click on the CodeRED logo).
Once you sign up you may need to set your iPhone or Android phone to accept calls from unknown numbers or just add the emergency notification phone numbers to your contacts. (I had to do this before CodeRED started working for me.) See this image from the Lincoln County HSEM Facebook page for details.
Lastly, the earlier part of our week had some beautiful frosty mornings—don’t you just love how the hoar frost looks on trees? For fun, you can check out this page on the Farmer’s Almanac website to read all about the many types of frost.

Final thoughts—did you remember to set your clocks forward during the wee hours this morning? Is spring really right around the corner? Perhaps, but then again, this is Wyoming so we’ll just have to wait and see.
