A very light week here at Star Valley Ranch. Here’s a a summary of what went on:
Wednesday, September 27th at 5pm the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Planning and Zoning Board met at Town Hall. An agenda from this meeting can be found here.
Friday, September 29th in the wee hours of the morning we were treated to a spectacular Harvest Moon here on the Ranch. The Harvest Moon is probably the most well-known of the Full Moon names. [Here’s a link to the Farmer’s Almanac listing of Full Moon names.] In the northern hemisphere this Full Moon most often occurs in September during the harvest season. Historically the extra moonlight meant farmers could work and harvest their crops for a longer time during the evening—hence “Harvest Moon”.
Here are a few additional Ranch items of interest from the past week:
The TSVR Crop Circles Community Garden is winding down for the season. Many gardeners have already emptied their tanks of plants as the sporadic September frosts put a decided end to the growing season. A few tanks do still have some spectacular sunflowers growing—check out these beauties!
The Star Valley Ranch Trail Crew has been posting some amazing photos of fall foliage as they finish up trail work for the season. Here’s a couple to enjoy along with a link to the Trail Crew Facebook page.
In last week’s news post I noted there were additional parcel boxes at the TSVR Mail Center patiently awaiting installation. Additional information was provided this week to clarify the installation cannot occur until locks are received for the new boxes and, only the United States Post Office can order those locks. Thus, the Town is waiting on action from the Thayne postmaster before anything further can get done.
The Star Valley Ranch Association put out a reminder to homeowners at the end of the week stating “As our nights are getting cooler and we are waking to frost in the mornings, please stay off of both golf courses until it has warmed up to protect the grass.” They also advised the Aspen Hill Golf Course will only be open Fridays-Sundays for the remainder of the season.
Final item of interest:
I read an editorial in this week’s Star Valley Independent newspaper on Wyoming’s energy future and carbon capture. It was penned by our Lincoln County Commissioners and I’m passing along the link as I found it to be a pretty interesting read.
Calendar items for the first week of October in Star Valley Ranch include:
Monday, October 2nd at 1pm the TSVR Water Utility Board will meet at Town Hall. Here’s a link to that meeting’s agenda.
Tuesday, October 3rd at 2pm the TSVR Natural Resources Board will meet at Town Hall.
Thursday, October 5th a flu clinic will be conducted by Lincoln County Public Health at the TSVR Town Hall from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
