Things were a little quieter on the Ranch this week. Here’s a summary for the week of July 23rd:
Wednesday, July 26th the Town of Star Valley Ranch (TSVR) Planning & Zoning Board met at Town Hall to conduct their second scheduled meeting of the month at 5pm. Unfortunately, as of the publication of this post, no agenda or minutes from this meeting are available on the Town website.
On Thursday, July 27th, I spent time working with the Star Valley Ranch Trail Crew. Tasks for the day included hiking out about 1.6 miles on Cedar Creek trail to conduct brushing, trimming, and tread work to open up the trail. We also removed what was left of the old retaining wall above Cedar Creek about 1/3 of a mile in from the trailhead. It was a perfect weather day for trail work and the wildflowers were beautiful all throughout Cedar Creek Canyon. The SVR Trail Crew typically starts trail maintenance work for the season in late spring and continues into the fall with workdays usually on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If you’re interested in getting out there with the Trail Crew you can learn more at their Facebook page by clicking here.

On Saturday, July 29th, the third TSVR Farmers Market took place from 8am to 11am at the First Response Center on Vista Drive. Baked goods, coffees, kettle-corn, fresh and sliced fruits, and vine-ripened tomatoes were among the items enjoyed by patrons. Next weekend’s Farmers Market on August 5th will once again include vine-ripened tomatoes as well as salad greens along with many other local offerings. Make sure you stop by!
Also on Saturday, July 29th the Cedar Creek Golf Course at Star Valley Ranch hosted the annual Andy Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament is named for Andy Johnson, a Star Valley High School athlete and later coach at the school, who passed away in 2017. Funds raised are used to support those in need. You can read more about Andy Johnson and the memorial tournament in the article published in the Star Valley Independent.
A couple of final notes for this week:
Roadside mowing was done by TSVR Public Works crews during the week. The purpose of the mowing was to clear overgrown vegetation, knock down dry and dead grasses, and aide with overall Firewise readiness. Some residents with landscaping too close to the Town rights-of-way (which typically consist of the 40-foot and 60-foot road width expanses) were likely not too happy. The Town discourages extensive landscaping by private property owners within rights-of-way. If you are uncertain as to where the Town right-of-way resides on your property please contact Town Hall.
Work on Cedar Drive has been completed and the road is now open to traffic.
Finally, here are upcoming Star Valley Ranch notes and events for next week:
A water outage to connect a new water line will occur on Monday July 31st affecting Solitude Circle and Solitude Drive.
Thursday, August 3rd, the TSVR Town Council will hold a work session in conjunction with the bi-weekly Water Project Construction meeting. Additional details on meeting time and location will be forthcoming from TSVR. If you aren’t signed up for the Town’s email announcements, you can do so by clicking here.
Friday, August 4th, the Star Valley Ranch Association (SVRA) will host a “Movie Night” in the park. The scheduled movie is “Shrek” which will begin at dusk. Contact the SVRA at (307) 883-2669 for more information.
Saturday, August 5th, the fourth event of the TSVR Farmers Market series will be held from 8am to 11am across from Town Hall at the First Response Center.
